DME

The DME signal is transmitted between an aircraft and a DME ground beacon, to enable the aircraft to determine its distance from the beacon during the final approach.
Indra is the sole provider of Distance Measuring Equipment to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) since 2011.
With performance in over 600 locations throughout the world, the Indra DME continues to offer reliability and ease of operation.

Available in low and high-power configurations, the Indra DME offers reliable operation, advanced performance, and ease of maintenance. It interfaces to any ILS and VOR system available today. The Indra DME has real fully redundant system control with preventive maintenance routines performed remotely.

Multiple DME stations are used to support DME-DME Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) operations. These DME-DME operations allow aircraft to fly fuel efficient arrivals and departures in a GPS denied environment.

Indra’s Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) has a field-proven record of performance for en-route and precision approach landing applications

ILS

Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) provide precision guidance so aircraft can safely approach the runway, even when pilots have limited visibility due to snow, fog or sandstorms.

Indra’s ILS is recognized for reliability and robustness in all climatic conditions, from arctic to tropic. Designed to be easy to maintain and operate, it contributes to low operational and lifecycle costs.

The Indra ILS is the preferred choice for airports of any size and complexity, and is offered for airport category levels I, II and III.

Our technical expertise has made us a leader in the market. Together with pioneering customers, we have brought several innovations to market, such as the ultrawide localizer which improves the runway capacity at busy airports like Dubai and Heathrow.

Our ILS is trusted by clients such as NATS (UK), DANS (UAE), US Air Force, US Navy, NAV Canada, Skyguide (Switzerland) and KAC (Korea).

Our market-leading Instrument Landing System (ILS) combines benchmark performance with reduced operating costs, bringing passengers safely to ground at more than 2,100 airports worldwide

VOR - Doppler or Conventional

By getting omni-directional signals from a VOR ground beacon, the aircraft can determine its position. The VOR is available in two configurations, Doppler (DVOR) and Conventional (CVOR).

The Indra VOR has become the international standard for high reliability in en-route navigational and approach systems. They include dual transmitters, monitors, power supplies and control, and has multiple interfaces.

The VOR system features a standard remote maintenance monitoring and control system which permits adjustment of various station operating parameters either locally at the station, or a remote location.

TACAN

TACAN provides azimuth information to military aircraft and slant range information to military and civilian aircraft. We offer fixed-based, shipboard, and man-portable TACANs that all include redundant power supply to maximize availability and performance.

Indra’s high-performing, high-reliability TACAN is designed with the highest degree of commonality with the Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) of choice for the FAA. Indra’s TACAN includes GaN technology for a fully modern TACAN with the most efficient, fully redundant Power Amplification in the world to maximize availability and performance. The Indra TACAN was flight certified in 2022.

The Indra Man-Portable TACAN provides a lightweight capability to rapidly deploy, operate, sustain, and support aviation assets in remote areas in all environments and weather conditions. It is a small, lightweight, ruggedized version of the Indra Fixed-Based TACAN, designed to be used in harsh environments and can easily be carried by two persons. It is used to provide full navigation services at otherwise unequipped airfields, for improvised airfields, or to restore airfield services after natural disaster, mishap, or attack.

The Indra Shipboard TACAN is the world’s most technologically advanced, full service TACAN beacon available today, providing the ability to outfit commercial and military vessels with navigation aid coverage to support aviation assets.
